Facebook Ads Strategy Training: Emma Van Heusen's Adcelerator

This February I embarked on three months of intensive Facebook Ads Strategy training.

How did I get on?

Why Facebook Ads Training?

Running Facebook ads is a nerve-racking business. You create your campaign and set your ads running, then you watch them, anxiously. Will they get the results you want? If they don’t, how do you fix it?

If you’re running ads for a client, the pressure is really on. I’m always acutely aware that I am spending my client’s money, even day, and I really want to get the best results for them that I possibly can.

That’s why I decided to get some focussed training on Facebook ads strategy.

Why this course? 

I first came across Emma Van Heusen on a free Masterclass which she offered to social media managers. In just that one hour, I gained so many valuable insights, I knew that Emma’s course was the one for me. 

Emma Van Heusen is one of the world’s foremost Facebook Ads Strategists, trained by Facebook’s own team. As well as building a great course, Emma has a brilliant team who provide support during the training.

Course Content

Facebook Ads Strategy draws on many skills - you need lots of hats!

  • Creative: How to find that perfect scroll-stopping image or video

  • Marketer: Writing copy that holds your audience’s attention

  • Data Analyst: What do all those numbers mean? Should they be going up, or down?

  • Scientist: How can I test to find out what works best for my objective?

The Adcelerator course covers all these areas, diving deep into what makes a great ad, how to build a cost-effective funnel, how to fix ads that aren’t working and scale those that are, and much more. 

Although it’s not essential, it’s really helpful to be working with a test client during the course to put the learning into practice.  I was lucky enough to be able to run ads for my regular social media client.

Support and Mentoring

Throughout the 12 weeks of the course, there are weekly Zoom calls with Emma and her team. This is a chance to ask any questions from this week’s lessons. Even better, you could get an expert eye on your test ads.  By listening to questions from other students and seeing the campaigns they were running, we all got great insights into different types of ads in different sectors. 

As well as the weekly calls, there was a private Facebook group for our cohort.  Emma and here team were here too, to answer our questions and provide a helping hand and support at any time. I’ve never had such great support on any course before. 

This was particularly important as, for obvious reasons, we were to become know as “the Covid cohort”.  Contending with home schooling, economic uncertainty amid a global pandemic made focussing on our learning a challenge at times. Emma and the team adapted to this new situation, offering extra support and even extending the course by two weeks. 


Mindset

As well as the ads focussed training, the Adcelerator includes a mindset element with monthly coaching calls from Andrea Callanan.  These were a real-eye opener for me, helping me to understand what I need to do to grow my business with my new skills. 

Just the beginning

Even though the course has now finished, the learning is just beginning.  It’s great to know I have access to the course for life, and that it’s constantly updated. The world of digital marketing is changing all the time, so this is vital in keeping my knowledge up to date.

Not only that, as an Adcelerator graduate I’m now a member of the Digital Tribe, where I can get support, advice and more training as part of an online community of Facebook ads experts. 

The Verdict

This course was is not for the faint-hearted, It’s technically challenging, and there is a lot to learn - and the learning doesn’t stop.  It’s an investment of time, and of money. 

Is it worth it? Absolutely. I’m already putting my learning into practice, and I’m excited about where my new training skills will take me and my business.
